Saving resources – helping local wildlife
More than $61,329 donated to local charities since 2006/2007
Wow, it is fantastic to see how much our guests are willing to help us not waste energy and water. We’ve been running our experiment since May 2015 and saved over 30% of electricity, more than 20% gas and water! All the money we have saved goes directly to helping local wildfire causes. In total we have donated to local charities more than $61,329 since 2006/7; thanks to guests help we will add a further $2,000 each year.
The savings go equally to Wisdom Wombat Refuge and Friends of the Bush-Tailed-Rock-Wallaby. They use the money to bring up orphaned baby wombats whose mothers have died from road accidents, while we only have 40 wallabies left, funds go to researching and protecting them. How do guests save so much?
We have designed and patented our own digital advisory service call My Green Butler which recommends how guests can use amenities effectively and not waste. You even receive eco-friendly feedback which helps learn how such actions could save resources and money in your own home. We now have a mobile/tablet version too.
