Hello 2013! Yes, it is already January and time is flying! I had been a little apprehensive prior to coming to Australia about spending Christmas away from my family, but in fact it wasn’t as bad as I had imagined. Of course being away from family and friends at this festive time was unusual for me, but the time difference, climate difference, and different approach to Christmas altogether here was a new experience for me, and almost felt like a summer holiday rather than a Christmas I had missed. I spend the day with Sophie's lovely family, who were all exceptionally welcoming. We had a traditional Australian Christmas and spent the afternoon on the gorgeous sandy beach of Mollymook, swimming, sunbathing and being thrown around by the mighty waves! I was also lucky enough to have a couple of days off at New year’s, which I spent in Sydney, in a beach house in Clovelly. I saw the fireworks with some friends, which were spectacular and got a chance to do some more touristy site seeing the next day.
Work at Crystal Creek this time of year is busy. January especially is one of the busiest times of the year for us in terms of guest numbers, so I have been kept busy working with Sophie and meeting lots of new guests through check-ins each day. The New Year has brought new motivation for me to continue to learn and improve my work here. There are some exciting things ahead… do feel free to email me for more details on my daily activities.
