From fine dining restaurants to informal cafes you have an excellent choice in Kangaroo Valley Village and the surrounding region. Many of the chefs promote local fresh ingredients and create mouth watering seasonal dishes.

Visit Wineries & Local Food Growers and Produce Outlets - Kangaroo Valley is situated between the cool climate vineyards of the Southern Highlands, known for their Sauvignon Blanc, and the maturing South Coast vineyards making Verdelho and Chambourcin. These boutique winemakers offer the unique flavour of the region and warm local hospitality. These are not ‘corporations’ but vintners who love what they do. On route also try South Coast NSW and Southern Highlands local produce from freshly baked sour dough, succulent table olives to rich ice creams and creamy cheeses.

River Estate

River Estate is located beside historic Hampden Bridge

Come and taste some of the great local produce from the creative local talents of Kangaroo Valley and surrounds. Set in beautiful gardens and parkland beside historic Hampden Bridge the ambient tasting room offers special cheese and local treats (pickles, dukkah, marinated baby figs and more) on plates with selected wines. You can also buy a picnic basket and relax on the grassy lawns outside to enjoy the lovely country atmosphere

Berihurikari

Gourmet dinners

While you are visiting the local markets you might like to buy Berihuikari’s fabulous locally made curries. There’s a great range to choose from like Chicken with Toasted Coconut and Lamb Korma, all gluten free. We love the buttered chicken! You can find Berihurikari at the Kiama and Berry Markets. They do arrange a Sydney delivery service to!

We stock a range of Berihurikari curies and rice your cottage’s freezer, (one is a vegi) so you can stay in one evening and keep cozy, there are popadoms chutney and ice creams too.

Delicious table olives

Try their Extra Virgin Olive Oil with Basil, Chilli & Ginger – just one of over 30 flavour oils, or succulent Kalamata Olives in red wine vinegar brine. There is also a range of Tapenades to try and Caramelised Balsamic Vinegars. All the olives are grown and procesed in Kangaroo Valley.

Visit, taste, buy and admire the breath taking views from the farm gate. Call in on your way to Bendeela to see the kangaroos and wombats.

You'll find the Tapenade and Kalamata Oils in as part of an in-cottage menu at Crystal Creek Meadows.

Kangaroo Valley Cooking Classes At Flavours Of The Valley

Cooking Classes at Flavours of the Valley in Kangaroo Valley help you find your inner foodie in a fun and relaxed cooking environment. Learn and cook new and exciting Mediterranean dishes under expert tuition and share the results in a beautiful bushland setting with your fellow cooks. Classes are scheduled for up to ten participants at a time, private groups of 6-10 and cooking classes for kids (children 4 and older) can all be arranged.

There is a range of delicious local cheese makers with brie and feta and blue cheese and many more. You can buy them at the Kangaroo Village Grocery or the Robertson Cheese Shop or your hosts can arrange visits to some of the producers. Not only are the fresh many of them are award winning from the Royal Easter Show. Great to take back to your cottage or take home as a treat from your holiday.

Olive Oil Tasting

Banksia Park makes an award winning extra virgin olive oil. Your find the oil in your cottage, but why not visit the oil grove and learn about their methods directly from Paul and Alison and buy some oil to take home. They also have a great nature walk. You can visit the farm on your way to Lake Yurrunga and the magnificent Three Trails Walk.

Barrengarry Store

At the end of the Kangaroo Valley Historic Walk you’ll find the Barrengarry Store. Famous for its pies it makes a great place to enjoy a coffee, ice cream while taking in the stunning view across the paddocks to the mountains.
